The materials used for home decor and furniture in interior design is just as important as the design itself. These small elements are what makes gives your flat or bungalow the essence of your personalized private space. In this blog, we will be talking about the materials that are being used nowadays in interior design and which has totally won our hearts by their sheer appearance and grace.

1. Bronze

There was a time when the bronze did not play a very important role in interior design. But this metal signifies grandeur and sophistication. From the kitchen sink to faucets, from planters to decor accents, from display units to center tables, bronze has won our hearts as a popular choice in the segment of metals.

2. Cane

Cane which is also known as Rattan or wicker is basically made of the stems of the rattan plant. As a material, it’s versatile, Eco-friendly, sustainable, lightweight and low maintenance. From furniture to partitions, lamps to decor items cane has steadily entered the world of interiors and is no longer considered an option for outdoor furniture.

3. Concrete

Concrete has made its entry into the world of interiors and construction from decades, but it’s refined form to be used in decor items as well as in furniture items is the new kid on the block. From floors to accent walls, from planters to pendant lamps, from tiles to furniture, it is surely increasing its footprint in our lives. The best part of this material is that it’s cheap and versatile.

4. Copper

From traditional to contemporary design, Copper is a material which has always been able to stand out in any timeline. Ranging from decor items to sinks, from cutlery to beds, from lamps to coffee tables copper has always been in the limelight for a considerable period of time.

5. Distressed Wood

Distressed wood adds character, uniqueness and warmth to modern interiors. In some homes, it brings a sense of history and nostalgia. Some might use it in the form of a lovely accent wall, while others could bring home the barn door and gives it a modern upgrade. From decor items to poster beds reclaimed wood has held its fairly stable strength in the world of interiors for ages.

6. Terracotta

Terracotta is a natural material, which has been used in the design for centuries. With its rustic charm, it still continues to bring pleasure and warmth to interior design settings. Apart from being sustainable the different levels of tone when using the color adds a beautiful appeal with a touch of effortless splendour.

7. Terrazzo

Originating 500 years ago, this composite material of marble chippings set into cement called Terrazzo was created as a way to reuse the scrapped rock. Traditionally sold as flooring, terrazzo has become a much more versatile material with its introduction into producing furniture, decor, kitchen tables, etc. It is not only restricted to hard materials but the print itself is being used as wallpaper, curtains and upholstery nowadays. The best part of terrazzo is that it is a highly sustainable material.
